What type of blog do you want to start?
The best way to go about writing your blog is to write about what interests you the most. The most popular blogs are those written by people that have an actual interest or passion for the subject being discussed on the blog.
You may already know exactly what you wanted to write about, or what you’re interested in. For me it was obvious. I live this Mommy life every day, and with three children under three, it’s almost impossible to escape it. So why not make this my blog? It’s my life. I think this qualifies me as an expert on the topic of family life. I’ve spent years working on other businesses’ websites with no personal reward, so now what I am doing is for me, as this will be for you.
If you’re still having trouble coming up with a niche, let me ask you some questions:
- What are your hobbies?
- What would you like to learn?
- Do you love traveling?
- Do you love cooking?
- What are you an expert in?
- Do you have any major goals that you would like to accomplish?
Here are some of the top niche, money making blogs. But by all means, they are not the only blogs that make money.
- Making Money Online
- Health/Fitness/Wellness & Healthy Food
- Crafts/DIY/Home Decor
It’s the blogs with quality, well-written content that are successful. And the ones that are on top of current marketing trends. As discussed earlier it takes work to get your blog to this point. It doesn’t just happen overnight, but if done right, you can get a head start.
Now, did any of the questions above give you any ideas?
The Don’ts to keep in mind before deciding on a blog focus:
- Don’t be too broad with your niche.
- Don’t make your niche too narrow either. It will limit your audience and your earning potential.
- Don’t start a blog on a subject that you’re not passionate about or not interested in.
- Don’t pick a niche that you know very few people would be interested in. Some niches are just hard to make money from. Pick a niche you know others are interested in too.
So, do you have any ideas yet? If you’re still thinking and don’t have a clear idea, STOP now, brainstorm, research and give this some deep thought. This is very important, so you don’t want to rush.
